About
Hi there, my name is Emily Cross and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing services in Aptos, California.
I have a deep knowledge and skill in CBT Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and DBT Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and love implementing these tools in session. It is much like skill-building and learning new behaviors and habits to change your life. I also love Attachment theory and Polyvagal theory. This is a strategy that helps caregivers become empowered to work with their kids.
My heart hurts for the hurting kids out there. I would love to help your child navigate their big emotions but I strongly believe in including the parent in this process. I care about helping parents help their hurting children.
I also have many years working with people with depression and suicidality. While my practice is only open on a limited basis right now, I am unable to see anyone who is actively suicidal. But I am able to see someone struggling with depression.
I am a Christian and have worked with people from all faiths or religion and I do not impose my beliefs in session. Faith is integrated in session if requested.
I love being a mama and am currently homeschooling my two boys. I love nature, the outdoors, flowers and the ocean. I also have a passion for children's literature. I have been married since 2003 to my darling husband.
